Paul, Unless I'm mistaken, 14 inches was also the height of Glenn Gould's piano stool. If your damper timing comes out as well as his Variations, UNL has itself a fine technician. Do you hum while you work? Best, Alex Alexander Lass Chicago, IL On Jun 13, 2009, at 10:50 AM, Paul T Williams wrote: Hi Jim, When I started here at UNL, Richard West left me a clever thing. He had an old three legged bench with round cushioned top. He chopped the legs off enough that it now only sits about 14" high. It works really well for sitting and performing inside the piano regulating. You can probably find one at a garage sale or thrift store. Would this help you? I find grand keyleveling/dip, damper work...etc, uncomfortable. Working at the bench is so nice, but alas, I end up inside the carcass for way more time than I would like. Anyone have any comfortable approaches to sitting at the piano while regulating action and dampers?
