[pianotech] Download PTBiz as freeware

Why don't you try File Maker Pro once? You can download a free 30 day trial version of it from http://www.filemaker.com/products/filemaker-pro/ I currently have version 7.0. It is version 10.0 now. But, I see no need to upgrade at this time nor, do they require you to do upgrades.

It is a very powerful program that you can set up to do billing, estimates, a customer data base any way you like. It is limited only by the amount of hard space on your hard drive and will take as many clients or billings as you want.

Some features amony many that I really like about it is that it never gives any problems. It never freezes, never loses data, it automatically saves everything and when you type information into the box, if you fill up the space in the box, it will automatically enlarge the box area so you can type as much as you like never filling it up. When the program is open, you can use short cuts like Control F for find and within way less than a second that client is pulled up. You can pull up clients by dates it needs tuning, by last date tuned, last name, first name, whatever…. I have mine set up to auto bring up names when it is time to call them for tunings. It pulls them up 3 months in advance because that is the way I have it set up.. Check it out…

Hi, Roy:

I was forced to update Quickbooks from 2006 version to 2009. I do not like it. The screen that comes up when you want to download transactions from the bank is terrible. It's confusing. It seems that for every transaction that downloads, you have to manually find the category whereas the last version did it well. I'm just incensed that even if you like the version you have, every 3 years you have to buy the program all over again. And, usually there's something that I don't like about the new one. I wrote them a complaint, but they don't care. They intentionally remove the ability of the program to interact with the bank, so you have to get the new one. I know, there are other programs out there. I thought about using M$ Money, but when I downloaded the trial program I couldn't get it to work. I finally gave in.

Suppose you have a keyboard. Every three years you have to "upgrade" the software, or IT WON'T WORK. They claim that it's necessary to pay for the development of future software and technology. How would you feel?

This company is predatory, They're always trying to squeeze more money out of the customers.

    End of rant.

That sounds pretty typical from my experience with him. On the other hand, I've been using Quickbooks. They want to sell me a new version every year, at close to full price. Right now they are offering the 2009 version at 20% off. They update and support it better, but they want paid too...

Is anyone using Quickbooks 2009, and what does it do that 2007 doesn't?

His response is likely to be “What’s it worth to you” as it was to me when I asked some time ago. Good luck!
