Anyway, I'm reading the Cars section in the Sunday Chronicle (San > Francisco) and I'm reading a "Motor Matters" article about boxy vehicles > like Nissan Cube, Scion & Kia. I found a used '06 that had been customized, lowered and had 18" wheels on it whith those low profile tires on it, I also got the original springs and tires with it all for a cool $10,000. I've been driving it for a year now after returning it to it's original height and removing the 18" wheels in favor of the original 15" ones with tires that have some bounce. I went for the '06 because it was the newest that still had the 1.5L and had anti-lock brakes, traction control and stabilty control as standard features. By the way I'm 60 years old, 6'4" and my weight has unfortunately increased to a little over 300 lbs recently. I have no trouble entering or exiting the vehicle, I have hauled 2 grand actions at once plus 3 toolbags, string case, etc. Last winter in our Wisconsin snows, traveling the county and town roads of rural Wisconsin, I purchased a pair of Winterforce snow tires for the front wheels and had no problems on the unplowed roads during storms. I am however planning to sell it, I have too many aches and pains at my age to sit in one position for long periods of time. Due to my size and the configuration of the vehicle, once I settle in the driver's seat, I'm there to stay, I have no room to shift position or re-adjust myself. Our chapter meetings are approximately an hour and 15 minutes drive and by the time I get there I am aching to just get out! I can report it handles well when it has a blow out, on my way to the last chapter meeting a front tire blew as I was traveling on the interstate at 70MPH and I had no trouble controlling it. Great little car for someone smaller or younger, without the "war wounds". ( grin) Mike -- I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
