Hobby shop 4 oz. bottle epoxy may well be good quality material (although I 
don't know that). The key with the West System stuff (and perhaps other 
brands like System 3, etc.) is that it has been proven over decades of 
demanding applications (composite boat building, airplane building, etc.) 
and is extremely flexible to meet the needs of most any application (epoxy 
thickness, cure rate, etc.).

Not necessarily anything wrong with hobby shop epoxy.
