    Yes, that brings up another problem with those Steinway (or 
other make) ex-players.  The keys are so long that the action 
frame is also.  When you pull out the action to check somethings 
like whether or not the jacks are jamming into the rep. lever 
window felt, the keyframe flexes so much that you don't know if 
you're getting the same dip with the action half in your lap as 
when it's in the piano.
    Yes, you can rest it so that the glide studs are on the 
front edge of the keybed, or you can push the balance rail up 
with your knees, but there's still no positive indication.
