I do nothing to keep fit, 71 and counting.
Just did 4 pianos this morning.
No pain to speak of, maybe a little bit in the knees.
I am lucky that I have no major problems, I just stay my overweight self.
I think it has a lot to do with your genes.

As long as this is OT, I'll jump in. Duaine, the fact is, you don't need
to strenuously exercise to lose weight. In fact, it's counterproductive.
Or to "target" certain areas, like the abdomen by doing situps, etc. Brisk
walking and light eating habits with proper diet is more effective. If you
exercise strenuously, your body doesn't burn fat, but carbohydrates. Age
also plays a factor, in that metabolism slows down. You don't have to go
on "Biggest Loser" to lose weight.
I started hiking with friends once a month a few years ago, and actually
gained weight. I had to go on a diet to get some of it off. When I'd get
home, I'd eat a lot ('cause I'd be hungry), gain back at least as much
weight as I might have lost by hiking.
I do wish I was in as good a shape above the waist as I am below it.
