HI David, I tried adjusting the sustain pedal, no luck, but I'm wondering if I'm not patient enough. It lifts all the dampers at the right time however. William, I believe I checked the string plucked it, and it seems to play OK. It's odd, play the key soft to medium it plays fine. give it a good whack and I hear the note sound and then distorts kind of like it's two notes and then it gets choaked out. The double note sound I believe is the loosness of the hammer. I believe it plays OK if I keep the sustain pedal depressed. I have a strong suspicion that it's a spoon issue, but I haven't had any success yet with the spoon. I had to remove the action so I could get that spoon from the back of the action, it's a direct blow action. I've tried too many times to access the spoon from the front while the action was in place. as for the loose hammers, Wait until I try to sell this repinnig job to this non profit school, wish me luck, I'm anxious to see their reaction. 5 tunings is going to turn into repair work and a larger bill for them. but if I can at least get this "funky A" fixed as she calls it, we'll be Ok for a while. I sure appreciate everyone's help. I wish I had a way to play the note for you guys. When I get this solved, I'm going to ask to teach a session at our alumni clinic one year about "funky notes." lol Marshall Marshall Gisondi Piano Technician Marshall's Piano Service pianotune05 at hotmail.com 215-510-9400 Graduate of The School of Piano Technology for the Blind www.pianotuningschool.org Vancouver, WA _________________________________________________________________ Windows 7: Simplify your PC.
