Keith, I think Gerald has the correct location of your noise. I've had several do this on Kawais and made the fix. The lever that pushes the action made noise only on the release. After a lot of sweat and zxv@*^n, They ahve an insert there and I noticed the wood at the connecting point had minuet fractures. I turned the action over and used CA thin to penitrate the area. When it dried I lub'd the area and it's been fine for a lot of years. This avoided the larger fix. Try it.
