Al, If I am stringing a piano w/o plate bushings, it's pretty straight forward. Spinet hammer shank; dip in a plastic cup of PDF; let drip; swab the hole(s), (I usually swab one unison at a time); drive pin, (after pre-coiling wire on to it); set coil; finish driving to proper level. If I am doing a piano with plate bushings, I have all of the bushings in a solution of PDF, (10%) and synthetic reducer, (the thinner for my PDF), (90%). I let them soak over night so that they all become "water-logged" and sink in the solution. I take 2 unisons out of the solution and let them "dry" somewhat, on a paper towel, while I am premeasuring wire, etc. This keeps them from squirting all over the darned place. The reason for this proceedure is to make the bushing very pliable so that it won't get a permanent malformation. The T.P. squishes through it and doesn't split the bushing. Hope that helps.
