[pianotech] TouchRail

Hi Joyce,

Nice to meet you in Vegas!

Yeah, I wrote that article, but I'd like you to know that Scott took the test kitchen's concerns to heart and made some changes--including telescoping tubes for measuring the height of the nut support tubes. He also includes a nut driver and there are two strengths of springs. I could be mistaken, but I think the newer rails are a tad smaller, so clearance with the fall board would be less of an issue. There might be a couple other improvements, but I can't recall them at the moment. Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate installing one now after installing the first one). In fact, there are a couple pianos in my past (or is that my closet?) that I wish the TouchRail had been around for. :-)

I'm looking for feedback about the "TouchRail" sold by Scott Jones. I'm considering this for an inexpensive grand whose owner has a limited budget. If you've installed one, do you have any recommendations about installation, and were the results what you'd expected? I read the article in the Journal, but I am looking a few more opinions.
Thanks,
Joyce Meekins
