[pianotech] Hammer tapering methods?

I used to use a little jig with a fine saw-blade insert to mark a 
kerf each side of the tail and then plane up to here, but I do it by 
eye now and it's just as exact.

I have a "three-legged" tray with a plate-glass mirror top.  The 
angle can be varied in both planes.  The left-to right slope is to 
accommodate the angle in the bass and tenor of Steinways etc.

I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow -- I know it's one of a 
number of things that has gone into hiding!

Here are a couple of pictures I took to prove the concept before I 
covered the tray.
