[pianotech] Wegman Upright Restringing

Hello all: I am taking in a Wegman upright, circa 1903, to restring. It has
tuning pins that are held directly by a tight fit in the plate, not a
pinblock. It even comes with special instructions from Wegman to the tuner
on how to tune, and also a cursory explanation of how to replace a string.
Has anyone restrung one of these before? Do you remove the pins completely?
Reuse the originals, or replace with new ones of identical size or larger?
Thanks,
