Hello all: I am taking in a Wegman upright, circa 1903, to restring. It has tuning pins that are held directly by a tight fit in the plate, not a pinblock. It even comes with special instructions from Wegman to the tuner on how to tune, and also a cursory explanation of how to replace a string. Has anyone restrung one of these before? Do you remove the pins completely? Reuse the originals, or replace with new ones of identical size or larger? Thanks, Patrick C. Poulson Registered Piano Technician 530-265-1983
