Hello, David, I usually use your first position, but I find myself using at least a half dozen positions with holding the very end of the hammer for the final touch to bring in unisons. I can't bring myself, yet, to buy a Fujan, but the more I hear about it, the more I'm contemplating getting one. We'll see if my budget stays the same or cut back as our whole campus's budgets are getting the whack. Not saying my budget is small, like a $300 tuning hammer kind of thing, but I'm analyzing what I may have to expect with upcoming projects. I'd like to hear from other Fujan owners how they like/love/hate them. I've used the same Hale w/rosewood handle lever for 20+ years, and I guess I'm just comfortable with it and know how it behaves. I added a longer tip a couple years ago as my old one wore out, but after a few tunings, still love it. I got the longer one to help with those Mason and Hamlin taller struts/capo bar heights. Does an increased angle from the old school standard affect any of you in technique? I was intrigued by the girl's tuning lever technique, and wondered how it could work to provide enough control, since the thumb seems to oppose the fingers and palm. Pics 1 and 2 show my normal tuning lever positions (except that to take the pic of myself, I had to move round a bit, so my forearm is not as parallel to the piano as it would normally be).
