What was there originally isn't working. That's the big one, and ignoring it hasn't worked in the past. What ought to be the adequate conventional repair isn't working dependably. That's strike two. Where does that leave you? You can do a conventional re-lead with Bismuth or Tungsten, which would probably work great and be an interesting project, but might be a tough sell. So why not external (Jiffy or otherwise) leads? This is still a long way past a trivial repair if you were doing the entire key set, so I presume you're just doing individual keys as needed? As a matter of practicality, I think, before I resorted to Jiffy leads I'd replace individual problem leads with new of similar size and get a fresh start. If the problem comes back in 50 years (and you KNOW the piano will still be there), we'll deal with it then. My take, Ron N
