I think Duaine might have something there.  Those nasty rubber things get 
crumbly and can make noise.  check that. some may even be totally gone. 
I'll bet Schaff has some. Replace the whole set.

Sound like it could be the rubber grommet - either disintegrating or 
missing - under the lost motion adjustment nut.
