> Most of the complaints I have seen so far are due to lack of desire to adapt.

Hi Israel,

While I am cognizant of your strong feelings about the reaction to this change, the statement above is incorrect. There are at least four distinct areas of concern. Various responders have "mixed and matched" them in their postings, but I believe it may be helpful to separate them out, as there is some validity to all of them (since valued members of our community have expressed strong feelings about them), and there are different possible ways to solve or ameliorate them.

Here are the issues that I have seen expressed. I will make an effort to be dispassionate and not take sides on any of them in this posting; I am merely trying to report on them in an effort to clarify the situation in hopes of finding solutions and/or common ground:

1) Some members may be resistant to change. I am only listing this one first because it is the one you mentioned in your posting.

2) Some members feel that they were not consulted about the impending change, and that their input about what features they feel any new system should have was not gathered or acted upon.

3) Some members feel that they were not adequately forewarned about the actual change itself, and were not adequately prepared to adapt to the new environment. You did address this point near the end of your posting.

4) Some members believe that the new software in its current state is inadequate and/or poorly chosen. Some of these members have expressed the willingness to ask for changes and to suspend judgement about the software until it becomes clear if those changes can be made successfully or not. Others have expressed a concern that the software is fundamentally flawed and inadequate, and are requesting that it be scrapped in favor of a better software solution.

---

I hope that we can recognize that these are separate issues. If we tackle them one at a time, we may be able to make progress.

For instance, we may be able to help each other as friends with 1). Or, it may be necessary for the leadership to revisit 2). Or, remedial tutorials may help us to get past 3). And, continued refinement may clarify the ultimate utility of our chosen software and the ultimate disposition of the issues in 4).
