When the banning doesn't happen, the next best thing is to ignore the troll. Ignoring is sometimes difficult because trolls, by their very nature, try their best to incite us to respond. If the temptation is too great, then the solution is to set up an email filter to do the strongest action available to your mail software/provider. Gmail allows you to bypass the inbox and send it to trash. Voilà, no more troll.
