Gentlemen,

In addition to Bill's words (below), I must once more reiterate that the e-mail lists - in the long term - are not sustainable in the PTG framework. There is too much work involved in monitoring the spam filters and approving legitimate messages caught in the spam filters for the PTG's volunteer corps to manage both systems. I suppose they could just stop monitoring the filters - and then all those messages that the filters "think" are spam will not be posted. The other alternative would be to weaken or shut down the spam filters - and then you all will have to wade through a bunch of spam to read the posts. In any case, in the long term the PTG cannot maintain its server (on which the lists live) because our volunteer IT person who managed it is quitting. I suppose the lists could move to some other system, but then the PTG has no obligation to devote its already overloaded volunteer corps to managing them - is there anyone out there who wants to keep those e-mail lists willing to manage them? Been there, done that, it can get pretty nerve racking... The guy who took over the list I started years ago lasted about a half year...

Observe, from David Love:

"So are people aware that you can start a new thread without going to the
website by simply sending your email to ptg_pianotechne at egroups.ptg.org .
(there's an underscore between ptg and pianotechne in case it doesn't show
up that way). Type in your subject heading as you would normally and it
simply gets picked up by the system and posted. That basically means you
can operate pretty much outside the website if you choose to, much like the
old system. I was not aware of this until I just tried it.

The same theory would apply to any one of the discussion groups based on how
they are named for example to post to caut discussion group would be
ptg_cautne at egroups.ptg.org . I've tried to post this to multiple groups
(Pianotech and Caut both) to see if this works.

Notification settings should be PDA and Text.

You really should give it a try (chance).
