Barn,

This is bad info. There are polyester repair kits available that
are specifically designed to repair exactly what you are talking about.
Contact Ruth Phillips for some help.

Subject: [pianotech] Kawai K15 finish?

ahoy there!

a client of mine has a long scratch on the bottom panel of his
mahogany-style finish'd Kawai K15.

a bit of research reveals that its not a cellulose finish as i'd imagined,
but a polyester...

i plan to use acetone to blur the edges, and then just colour-fill with some
wax, as i understand its not possible to touch-up small areas of polyester
finish: ie, one must respray the whole panel.

is this true? any other hints or tips would be greatly appreciated...

thanks!
