I'm not sure where you're coming from on this. Are you implying that just because I forgot my music theory from 45 years ago in college, I shouldn't be a piano tuner? How does not knowing first or second inversions have anything to do with tuning a piano?

Subject: [pianotech] theory question

I find it unconscionable(?) that this question keeps surfacing! Doesn't
nyone pay attention?? We have the ability to LOOK up music theory for the greatest
verall understanding of music, on an individual basis! And yet, none of you
echno-geeks seem willing to put forth the EFFORT to learn how to do this!
hat is that???? To assume that every theoretical question of a specific historical era
s exactly the same is just down-right STUPID! I'm sorry and I apologize
or being so sarcastic, but this is one of those subjects that really
ushes ALL of my buttons! PLEASE, learn the theory or DO NOT
UNE???!! You're not up to the task, imho.
