There is also McMaster-Carr, www.mcmaster.com <http://www.mcmaster.com/> ,
and Bolt Depot, www.boltdepot.com <http://www.boltdepot.com/> .

I like adding thin washer between the inverted lock nut and the plate.
Bearing washers against cast iron are always a good idea. Plus the washer
helps keep the nut from wanting to turn as you adjust the stud up and down.

Warning: if your holes are not perpendicular, your studs sticking up are not
going to align with the plate holes very well as you lower it. You will have
to turn your studs in deep, set plate in place, then raise studs through
holes.

This is what you need, all from Fastenal: Idea from Ron Nossaman originally
I believe.

3/8"-16 x 4" Black Oxide Alloy Steel Cup Point Socket Set Screw

3/8-16 Nickel Plated Acorn Nut

3/8"-16 Zinc Finish Case Hardened Serrated Flange Nut

The Flange nut is inverted and epoxied in place along the length of the
Allen set screw so that the shank will protrude far enough above the plate
so that you can turn down the acorn nut without bottoming out before
touching the top of the plate. An allen wrench in the head allows you to
adjust the screw up or down as needed. Go to Fastenal.com and you will find
all these items. Much cheaper than WNG bolts.

I have only used them on grands, but there is no reason why they would not
work on an upright equally well.

Hello again,

Just curious if anyone has had the pleasure of installing adjustable plate
bolts on an upright.

Without removing the plate just yet I count 20 perimeter plate screws that
are centered on support dowels.

A bit expensive to purchase the WNG's .

Anybody have any experience they want to share? Home made designs?

Gene
