Hi, Ron and Laura ! This system of 'Shish Kebab' type compressing for Balance Rail Felts works for me, too. I had learned in Kimball classes from late Roger Weisensteiner, RPT. I had improved it slightly: I like to put FENDER Washers on each end of the Machine Nuts..Give it a try, it woyks ! Hope, it helps..
