William, I'm pretty certain that a Google CAPTCHA would be readable by a screen reader. Most CAPTCHA's that I have ever encountered have an audio option, and Google is usually ahead of the curve with compliance to standards like that. Also, Google already knows every single thing you or anyone else has ever posted on the old pianotech list. I cannot think of how being hosted by Google will make any difference whatsoever, except that IF Google ever decides to pull the plug on its groups, we won't get a two-year extension just because we whine a lot.
