Mark, If the concert bench in question is a Jansen, you can order a set of bushings for $10 (plus S&H) that fit on the ends of the rods of the scissor mechanism and ride inside the metal rails. I replaced those on a bench recently, and have another in my shop as we speak, and it restored the bench to it's original stable condition. You'll be amazed at how mis-shapen the bushings can get. If it's another popular make of artist bench, I haven't yet figured out how to get those from rocking once they start.
