John, The last time I tried to obtain written info for one of my clients, S&S would only give me info over the phone. I was told that they only send written letters to current owners. So now, I give my client the 800 number and their piano serial number, have them call and ask for Customer Service. Steinway will mail the owner a letter verifying the data they have on file. Usually this information includes the original purchase date, original buyer, place delivered, color and make of piano. If S&S has received info to update their records since the original info, that too will be included.
