I had the Banff Centre purchase three items from Fletcher and Newman in the UK a few years ago, named in their catalogue 'Grand leg raiser'. These were essentially a tripod with an auto scissors jack welded on top and a vise type handle. They are quite light, yet rated at 1300 lbs. The cost was about $100 Canadian, and proved invaluable, as among the usual application the entire piano could be lifted and a higher stand rolled under for re-stringing, or working on the legs, replacing casters or regluing loose leg joints.
