Les Noces

Hi,

I have never had much success with averaging two pianos (or more)
together, even if they are the same make and model. I find it better to
tune each to the best it can sound. Music generally has many rapid notes,
so I think that small differences between pianos in the mid range will not
be audible. The extremes are a different matter.

I have tried averaging with both SAT and RCT. No dice--the pianos never
sound *right*, no matter how carefully I go about tuning. In one case that
meant using RCT and tuning each piano one note at a time. (i.e. tune A4 on
one piano then move to the other and tune A4)

The two pianos I tune most frequently together are Kawai GS-60 pianos with
consecutive serial numbers. They do *not* sound as well with an averaged
tuning as with independant tunings.
