Hi Greg,
The other two problems we have seen are: 1. Bacterial growth decomposing =
the pads and the whole mess sticking to the bar. (Hot soapy water and a =
scrub brush have cured this.) This happens with some frequency when =
Humidifier Treatment is not used. 2. Corrosive well water that actually =
eats away at the aluminum. This is rare as the pH needs to get down to =
5.5 or so. Since this process is destructive there isn't much you can =
do.
If either of you have a digital photo of this problem, email it to me =
off the list please. Thanks!
Roger

Hello Steve,

If the crust is from mineral deposits associated with hard water try =
a dilute solution of vinegar, 4 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Usually =
this does the job.

Yo list- Does anybody out there have an intergalactic solvent to =
clean encrusted Dampp-Chaser pads which have grown onto the humidifier =
heater bars? Yes I know, I shouldn't have let it get this bad, but I did =
and it is. I'm ready to use my trusty Lysol toilet bowl cleaner but I =
need advice from a chemist or electrician. Thanks much. Steve Kabat
