Teachers get more pay with advancement, from instructor, to associate professor, to full professor. Even secretaries go from one pay scale to another, without having to leave the school. But, as Conrad said, we are stuck. Maybe CAUT can promote tying our pay to our education. Not only as a starting point, as in being an RPT, and/or having an advanced "real" education, like a BS or MA degree, but also with additional courses taken at seminars and convention. Although this might be more along the lines of getting some sort of certification, for which there wasn't too much support, if the certification could mean more money, it might be something that would have some support.
