In states that instituted helmet laws,(California, for one), the enforcement of the helmet laws created an instant shortage of donated organs... I always wore a helmet when I rode, but like the saying goes, "If you have a $10 brain, wear a $10 helmet, and if you don't have a brain, no need for a helmet, at all".
