Mark, My personal preference would be to restore the piano as per the original, if at all possible. I have seen too many historic pianos - actions - "modernized". As a result, they become hybrids, just pianos, and their true identities are lost forever. You won't find many people looking for a piano like the one you describe, but when you do finally find a person who wants one, they will be willing to pay whatever it takes to buy it.
