One way of doing it would be to glue 2 wires inside the tank about 1/2" or 3/4" below the top of the tank. At the other end of the wire, install a plug. You or the student could come to water the piano, plug the battery (connected to a beeper or a light), and then as soon as the water would touch both ends of the wire in the tank the beeper would beep. I think a 9 volt battery could do the job. Hopefully someone will try this and refine it. Hopefully, I will get royalties for this magic invention ;-) Marcel Carey, RPT Sherbrooke, QC > -----Original Message----- > From: caut-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:caut-bounces@ptg.org]On Behalf Of > Mark Cramer > Sent: 10 mai, 2004 12:18 > To: CAUT > Subject: tank-filling noise maker > > > Dear Colleagues, > > I'm still waiting for your clever ideas on how to make > tank-filling noisier; > i.e. tiny metal bells at the end of the filling spout? > > Since I've had no response yet, (and on the subject of tiny > metal bells) I'm > going to inflict a bit of Rocky Mountain hiking-savvy upon > you, from the > staff bulletin board outside Denis' shop: > > Beware of bears: > > To prevent a surprise encounter with bears while hiking, it > is wise to make > lots of noise along the trail.
