Chris, We're really just talking about a tiny vertical scratch extending maybe 5/8" down from the top of the shank. Hardly compromising the integrity of the shank. It doesn't take much to relieve the hydraulic pressure against the wet glue. I do remain open to discussing potential tonal implications, however.
