With a near zero bearing friction an ideal tuning mechanism would be a screw machine, much the same as the M&H design which would eliminate flagpoling and torque. It is the bearing friction on screw-stringers which causes tuning problems. You'd have to tune just shy of pitch and let it drift up (as with 1098's). Otherwise, I really liked the screw concept, except for string replacement. Any one want one ... :-) -- Regards, Jon Page
