In order to use the stainless steel "Pure Sound" wire, I need to
redesign some bridges of higher tension scaled pianos. I'm looking for
any books, articles, etc. on bridge design. I've heard there is
something in German, but I haven't been able to get my hands on that
yet.

Ron N's class on bridges was excellent and I have his handout but that's
all. Of course, the scale dictates what the needs of the wire is, but
I'm unsure about mass, "foot prints", taper, etc.

FYI, Vince and I have been using Pure Sound wire for many restring jobs
and it is very, very good! This is a significant new "improvement" for
our field. Here are the main benefits I've seen so far:

=20

1.	The richness of the sound. It truly makes the piano more
pleasing to hear.=20
2.	The piano sounds "bigger" by at least a foot.=20
3.	It stays in tune better. More stable. (!!)
4.	No corrosion, rust, etc.=20

Some of the "cons" are that it is about 30% more costly, it breaks more
during the initial stringing (but very little afterwards), and you can't
use it at higher tensions, usually in higher registers of certain
pianos. Hence the need for bridge redesign.

Please let me know of anything written on this. Aside from pestering Del
and Ron, and others of you that have expertise in this area I'm kind of
"reinventing the wheel", which is generally not the way to go.

Thanks!
