Which means unscrewing the guide rail and sliding the upstop rail up the belly rail and under the loose guide rail on top of the soundboard. Then shimmied out from under the strings, refelted and put back. Houdini-like maneuver to be sure, >> Umm, how is the upstop rail going to clear the plate at the bass break? Is there room enough to move it towards the treble enough to clear the entire bass section? ( it doesn't take long to undo the damper screws and I would imagine by the time the upstop rail is worn out, the dampers could use a little regulation, anyway!)
