I've had a similar experience: storage room without ventilation (other 
than what leaks around the doors) in which the pianos are far more 
pitch stable over long periods of time than all of the pianos in the 
building that contains said storage room.

  I once tuned a B from the 50's at a high school in western Virginia 
that was stored in a simple locked room offstage, with no vents, 
windows or other humidity control. It was in great shape. Simply being 
out of the torrent of air being exchanged by HVAC systems seemed to 
help, as of course did being locked away from student access.
