Yes, and I think hammer/string mating in particular, from my  
experiences with him.

I think he is a "pretty nice guy" but he does avoid direct contact  
and communicates mostly through intermediaries. I interpret it as  
wanting to stay focused, not wanting a personality/conflict  
interchange with an unknown person to upset the inner balance. He is  
a rather strange individual in some ways, but good at what he does.
