I usually use soap and water also.  But I have also used Guardsman  
furniture polish -- the powdered, mix with water version - with good  
results.  Your local Ace Hardware, and perhaps other hardware stores,  
should either have it or be able to order it.  I've tried the aerosol  
Guardsman furniture cleaner and it just smears and makes a big mess.
