Hi again.
Check out the following applet and play around with it for a while.

Gotta go to work now.... more thoughts on the matter later. But as a 
starting point click and drag point S on the applet so that WP and PS 
are the same length.  Then see that PS remains the same length as long 
as the beam stays horizontal no matter what angle you place your load 
(red lines) on.  The force required will change but then the effective 
length of the arm will change accordingly.

Lots of ways of playing around with this applet.
