[CAUT] back check height

Is there a?rule of thumb for the height of the backcheck, in comparison with the hammer/shank?

On a side subject, I know this information has been discussed before, but when?I went to the archives, all?I can do is go through each month for subject or thread. Is there a way to get this information from whenever it was posted?
