It will be typical Korean quality...OK, but in several years?

I won't be sure if it's a Sohmer & Co or not until I see it tomorrow for an evaluation. It's a 6'2" grand. The fellow at the church said they can buy it at $12,900. I have no idea what the retail is for such a beast, but it sounds like a good price. They would rather have a Yamaha, but the funding isn't there....

When you mention Sohmer-Korea, you have to be a little more specific. There are two different Sohmer lines made in Korea:

Samick makes them under license from the Burgetts. The fallboard says, "Sohmer & Co."

Royale makes them, citing that the Burgetts' trademark expired. The fallboard says, "Sohmer."

This, from Piano Book Supp. 2007-2008.

Hi List,

I got a call from a local church asking about the new Sohmers made in Korea, but I have not seen/heard one, so I'm asking for your humble opinions. What are your experiences with them? Positives and negatives?

Thanks in advance!
