Thought it might be on interest to some: ------------------------- POSITION: Director of Piano Services, University of South Carolina SOM, Columbia, SC STARTING DATE: August 2008 SALARY: Commensurate with experience RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for providing tuning and service to maintain performance pianos at a professional standard as required for recitals, concerts, auditions, and recordings. Provide tuning in piano and voice faculty studios and piano major practice rooms. Oversee piano maintenance, repairs, and improvements. Maintain piano inventory history. Supervise rebuilding of piano actions and keyboards. Supervise and train technicians and student and graduate assistants. Work with the Dean, faculty, and staff to develop, maintain and implement short- and long-term strategies for maintaining and building piano inventory at a level commensurate with the School's programs. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma and four years of experience as a piano technician, or a bachelor's degree and experience as a piano technician required. Member of the Piano Technicians Guild with Registered Piano Technician status preferred. Extensive experience in preparing pianos for concerts and recordings required. Must have a thorough understanding of piano technology concepts and methods; experience developing proposals and presentations; ability to collaborate and recommend options; and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others to plan and achieve strategic goals. Knowledge of an institutional setting is preferred (i.e. school, church, etc.) Superb interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to relate sensitively to internal and external colleagues and constituents are essential. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
