[CAUT] Hiring a University Technician

Hi guys:

I have a friend and client; Dr. Vincent Craig who is on the search committee for a technician at West Chester University, Department of Music.

He has asked me to help as I have done in the past.

This time...their qualification expectations are a bit afield in my opinion...for example...they want to know exactly how many pianos the tech will do each day, they don't need to be Registered with the PTG, but they do require a college degree. I don't know...I would ask for a different set of quals...but what do I know.

I was hoping you could help Vincent write a reasonable job description for the new tech as you are in the trenches and who knows where they are.

Also, you might give input on normal salaries, etc. West Chester, PA is close to Philadelphia in a no-so-cheap residential area.

I recommended the last tech, and have recommended yet again and thought that would do it...but you know how it goes...new leader...new power...new ideas.

Anyway, for those of you inclined to help:

Vincent is a concert pianist and an extremely reasonable and intelligent sort.

I really appreciate the input you might forward.

Regards,

Ralph
