Hi, I think that the addition of other substances such as glue, dye processing of the felt, etc. is where the problems can arise. The felt has lanolin and is in itself a good lube. That is if it has not been washed out in the felting dying process.
JMHO oils should only be used to treat when a problem arises.

  Has anyone ever considered pre-treating the pins (action not tuning)prior to repinning? 
  Perhaps just a shot of spray or putting the pin a bath.. CPL/Pro-Tec etc. before inserting. 
  May or may not have benefit for long term. Yes, some bushing is graphite enhanced but most is not.
  Looking forward to discussion pros and cons.
