A question about substituting a laminating epoxy for a structural epoxy: I need to put together another composite block tomorrow and I am out of the West System epoxy that I usually use. (Combining multilam with delignit cap about 9 mm thick for a pinblock). I didn't know the West system 206 had leaked out of the bottom of the can and is all over the shelf! I am considering using the System Three Clear Coat Laminating Epoxy in place of the West System. >From what I could read about the strength of System Three laminating clear coat epoxy (that I have on hand) it is rated at 7800 tensile strength psi. West system 105/206 is rated at 7320 psi. This looks like the System Three is stronger even though it is a laminating epoxy and the West is structural. Am I reading the ratings correctly? The West would probably do a better job of filling any gaps though. Bob Hull
