Kent,
I'm willing to remove WNG from the easier list. These parts are in flux and if they are that difficult I sure hope that WNG will respond.

I have tried WNG screw-adjustable wipp support springs and found them unusable; perhaps they have been redesigned? The ones I tried were much too stiff to work correctly, and there was also a problem with the mounting position of the loop on the flange; the groove for mounting the loop on the flange was too shallow, positioning the loop much too low on the flange.

    Paul and all,
An adjustment tool for wippen assist springs can be easily fashioned from a hammer shank. One end make 45 degree diagonal. Use a sanding machine (your choice disk, belt...) Put a slight groove in the tip. Use a small file or a knife.
Use for bending the small arm while holding the big arm with your finger. I find it easier to hold the small arm with the tool when I want to adjust the long/big arm with my fingers. You can also use this for holding down the long arm while you unhook the spring from the loop or rehook it to the loop. You can even stroke the big arm for fine adjustment with a downward stroke. DO NOT kink the long arm. Adjustable screw springs are much easier, either Tokiwa, WNG or Stanwood custom installed, but with a little practice and a homemade tool you can get fairly fast at adjusting the Renners. There is a way to add an abstract weight to the wippen and make fine adjustments, but I think that you would have to see it to get it. Read, I can't adequately explain it here.
