Yes...definitely...been there & etc...plus, marly is very expensive 
and time-consuming to put down properly.

While really ugly, a more reasonable alternative would be 3/4" marine 
plywood sheeting.  Much cheaper, protects the floor better; and, when 
it's too broken/ugly to use, easily and fairly cheaply replaced.
