It’s a crowned, laminated soundboard with the face laminae at 15˚ to the core. Yes, it’s a good thing. ddf Delwin D Fandrich Piano Design & Fabrication 620 South Tower Avenue Centralia, Washington 98531 USA del at fandrichpiano.com ddfandrich at gmail.com Phone 360.736.7563 From: caut-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:caut-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Mckeever, James I Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2011 5:56 PM To: caut at ptg.org Subject: [CAUT] Hailun soundboards The soundboard on Hailun uprights and smaller grands is described as follows: "All mountain spruce with 15 degree spruce meniscus coating for climatic resistance and flexibility." Never heard of it! Is it a good thing? How might it affect the sound? The Hailun's I have played are surprisingly resonant, with good sustain. Comments encouraged!
