Having previously worked for a Yamaha retailer here in Austin, my
experience has been that the problem is not with the tubular metal rod
bending, but rather the wing nut slipping slightly from an extremely loose
mis-match of threads between the wing nut and the prop screw. I found this
not only on P22's, but most all of the American made verticals as well.

Yamaha sent me (at no charge, I might add), several sets of threaded nuts
which you simply screw down on top of the wing nut, thus preventing any
"unthreading" or otherwise slipping of the wing nut.

Perhaps a call to Yamaha (with the proper bowing & scraping, of course)
would result in a solution to your problem. It worked for me. I have had no
problems with the pianos since adding those nuts.

Good luck!
